The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Wednesday to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 45-year-old Richard Briggs, who has moved from Poughquag to a residence on Pine Hill Road in Pleasant Valley.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Briggs as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Briggs was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in 1991 after having sexual intercourse with his victim. He was arrested by the Poughkeepsie Town Police Department and sentenced to 5 years probation. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
