Two Arlington High School seniors were seriously injured in a rollover crash in the Town of LaGrange on Wednesday, state police said.

State police from the Poughkeepsie barracks responded to the area of 60 Todd Hill Road for a reported one-car rollover auto collision at approximately 2:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevy Malibu operated by a 17-year-old Arlington High School senior was traveling westbound on Todd Hill Road. The vehicle exited the northern shoulder of the roadway and subsequently struck a tree, police said.

Members of the LaGrange Fire Department extricated the driver and his 17-year-old passenger, who is also an Arlington HS classmate. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The names of the students are not being released at this time, police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but speed is believed to be a contributing factor.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling (845) 677-7300.

Counselors will be available for students at the Arlington High School during school hours.

The State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Also on scene were the LaGrange Fire Department and the Arlington Fire Department.
