Poughkeepsie Man Faces Drug Possession, Other Charges

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Poughkeepsie man, David S. Green, 28, was arrested Saturday by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office for various charges stemming from his failure to comply with police orders, authorities said.

According to police, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Main Street in Poughkeepsie, at which time Green refused to stop and kept driving. This continued for a short time until Green jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. S Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit search found Green hiding behind a nearby garage. 

Green was taken into custody, and a passenger in the vehicle was released without being charged.

During the investigation Green was also found to allegedly be in possession of several bags of suspected heroin, police said.

Green has been charged with the following:

  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
  • Reckless driving.
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

In addition, during processing, it was discovered that Green was wanted by Poughkeepsie police on a warrant for drug offenses and was turned over to the department for arraignment.
