State police from the Poughkeepsie barracks responded to the area of 60 Todd Hill Road for a reported one-car rollover auto collision at approximately 2:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevy Malibu operated by 17-year-old Arlington High School senior Dillon F. Colon of LaGrange was traveling westbound on Todd Hill Road. The vehicle exited the northern shoulder of the roadway and subsequently struck a tree, state police said.

Colon, and his 17-year-old passenger Ryan J. Mucci of Poughkeepsie, also an Arlington High School senior, were both extricated by members of the LaGrange Fire Department, said Trooper Melissa McMorris, spokesperson for the state police.

Both were taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital where Mucci died from his injuries. Colon remains in critical condition, McMorris said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but speed is believed to be a contributing factor, McMorris added.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation by calling 845-677-7300.

Counselors will be available for students at the Arlington High School during school hours.

The State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Also on scene were the LaGrange Fire Department and the Arlington Fire Department.
