National Park Service To Celebrate Birthday By Waiving Entry Fees

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The National Park Service will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year by offering free admission to certain historic sites in Dutchess County, according to the tourism website, dutchesscountytourism.com.

The National Parks Service, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary, will be waiving entry fees at Dutchess County historic sites such as Franklin D. Roosevelt's home in Hyde Park on certain days this year.

On 16 dates this year, entrance fees will be waived at the home of Franklin D. Roosevelt; First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill; Hill-Top Cottage, FDR’s private retreat; and the Vanderbilt Mansion, all in Hyde Park.

The following dates are freebies: Monday, Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Jr. Day; April 16 - 24 (National Park Week); Aug. 25 - 28 (National Park Service Birthday); Sept. 24, National Public Lands Day; and Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
