'IRS' Phone Scam May Become More Aggressive, Police Say

New York State Police are warning that telephone scammers who have raised the suspicions of several residents may become more aggressive as the holidays approach

The scam callers, who claim to be from the IRS, demand money from the victims while threatening criminal charges, according to police.

The public is advised that the IRS does not make such telephone calls in this manner. Anyone who may receive such a call should notify the authorities immediately
