The East Fishkill Police Department is currently working with Highway Departments in Dutchess County to curtail locals from leaving discarded items on area street corners.

The department specifically cited incidents that happened on Palen Road, near Harrigan Road.

Police said they’ve spoken to at least one individual about placing “free” items on the corner, and the items were subsequently removed. Officials said they are “taking steps to apprehend others who are using the same site for dumping junk items.”

Anyone who may see or suspect a car or truck illegally dumping items in East Fishkill have been asked to contact the Police Department’s Dispatch Center by calling (845) 211-2111.

“It is never (okay) to place items for free or sale on street corners owned by others,” officials stated. “You may be prosecuted and fined for doing so.”
