POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The city of Poughkeepsie will be kicking off another year of First Friday events by partnering with Walkway Over the Hudson.
The first 2016 First Friday is to kick off at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, May 6 with the premiere of a "stunning, 4-minute aerial film" produced by the Walkway Over the Hudson, according to a statement from the city.
Captured entirely by a drone, the footage features unique views of local landmarks and scenery, according to the city. The film will showcase the Greater Walkway Experience, which aims to promote the local area to the Walkway’s 500,000 annual visitors.
Those who attend the film's premiere at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House at 35 Market St. will be able to meet the filmmakers and see an actual drone demonstration. Admission is free.
A number of restaurants and businesses are expected to offer specials, promotions and samples during the event. Live music for children also will be available.
Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison is to host the event along with town of Lloyd Supervisor Paul Hansut and Elizabeth Waldstein-Hart, executive director of Walkway Over the Hudson.
