Central Hudson has given a global restoration - 90 percent - time of 10 p.m. on Friday, May 18, with 100 percent power restoration expected by 10 p.m. on Saturday. The company has brought in 260 line crews. The National Grid has also been brought into East Fishkill to help with the very complex circuit repairs.
According to the East Fishkill Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessandro, Central Hudson is working with National Grid, and they have “made significant leeway with the Shenandoah power sub-station and has been able to restore power to most of Stormville and parts of Wiccopee. “
Thousands of Dutchess County residents remain without power as crews work around the clock to restore the region following this week’s storm that uprooted trees and downed utility lines. As of 4 p.m. on Thursday, more than 5,000 NYSEG and Central Hudson customers remain without power, including more than 1,000 in East Fishkill.
As crews continue recovery efforts, the town will keep the Community Center open until 9 p.m. each night. There will also be bottled water and dry ice available on Friday at Town Hall, beginning in the late morning until it closes at 5 p.m.
“Our Police Department and Central Hudson crews have been working throughout the night,” ” Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessandro said. “Our Highway has been clearing roads and removing brush on roads so that the emergency crews can get to the affected areas. Unfortunately, the Miller Hill-East Hook area is so severely damaged that this has been prolonged. Central Hudson and the National Grid consider these ‘very sensitive’ areas.
