WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Airport will host the fifth annual Open House and Car Show on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission and parking.

The event features a variety of activities for children, families and adults of all ages, including aircraft and antique engine displays, tours, demonstrations and educational seminars.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Our annual Airport Open House and Car Show has something for everyone! Whether you’re a car enthusiast, an avid aviation connoisseur or if you’re simply looking for something fun and free to do with the kids.”

Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of aircraft displays including this year’s featured aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster Air Force Transport. Additional aircraft on display will include vintage and experimental aircrafts, Grumman Albatross, S-76 helicopter, Cirrus aircraft and airport fire rescue vehicle, and AT-6 WW2 Army Air Corps Trainer.

The C-17 Aircraft Tours will begin at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day. Angel Flight Network, Civil Air Patrol, Dutchess Community College Aviation Program and the Poughkeepsie Pilots Association will also have displays and information available.

A Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) Seminar, “Runway Incursions,” will be held at 11 a.m. in the terminal building lobby. The West Point Parachute Team will make a special delivery of the American flag. Natty Records recording artist and Dutchess County native, Alison Peratikos, will perform the National Anthem. Helicopter and plane rides will be available for a fee throughout the day.

Children and families will have plenty of activities to choose from including kindergarten through ninth grade demonstrations from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and building craft workshops from the Home Depot.

Dutchess County Legislator Joe Incoronato said, “The annual Airport Open House and Car Show provides children and adults of all ages the chance to see and touch historic vehicles and aircraft, while also getting a personal tour of our airport."

Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected throughout the day for local Castle Point veterans.
