POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Donovan Gilliard, a City of Poughkeepsie man convicted of fatally stabbing one man and wounding two others in June 2010 has lost an appeal for a new trial, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Gilliard was convicted of killing 25-year-old Kareem Porter and wounding two other men during a fight on Main Street. He was sentenced to 40 years to life for the crimes in 2011, said the Journal.
Justices of the Appellate Division of state Supreme Court rejected claims that Gillard's constitutional right to present a defense was violated, added the Poughkeepsie Journal.
