DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Friends, family, and local officials held a peaceful march on Wednesday, Oct. 21, as they marched towards Fishkill Prison, as a vigil for Samuel Harrell who died after a beating at the prison, reported Time-Warner Cable News.

The activists called for an end to what they called pervasive brutality, and for accountability. Family members have filed suit, alleging that 20 officers beat Harrell while he was handcuffed. The Orange County Medical Examiner had concluded that Harrell’s death was a homicide, Time-Warner Cable News reported.
