DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- People in Rhinebeck gathered Sunday night to show they were with the people in Charlottesville, who protested white supremacists.

The rally was held at Route 9 and Market Street.

People chanted, "No fear, everyone is welcome here," as supporters drove by and honked horns.

Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) said he rejects hate groups like white supremacists, neo-Nazis and the KKK, saying they have no legitimate place in our political and societal discourse.

"I am confident that the Department of Justice will vigorously prosecute and hold accountable those responsible for the abhorrent acts which occurred in Charlottesville over the weekend," Faso said.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, "The bigotry, racism and violence seen in Charlottesville exhibit the worst of humanity. And all of us, regardless of race, faith or party affiliation must condemn it and call it for what it is: Evil and anti-American."
