Emma Levine is an 11-year-old middle school student at the Arlington School District in Lagrangeville who is in the midst of a battle with cancer.
It's a fight she is not waging alone.
The community has come together in several ways to support her since she was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma tumor on her kidney on Aug. 9.
She then underwent successful surgery to remove her kidney at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital of Westchester. She will now require months of chemotherapy.
On Saturday, a large crowd turned out at Bowdoin Park in the Town of Poughkeepsie as part of "Team Emma" to raise money for Emma and her family. A $45 admission charge included a barbecue with live music as well as a 5K walk.
A GoFundMe page set up to support the family has already raised around $10,000. You can visit the page by clicking here.
