Community Mourns Loss Of Teen Killed In Pleasant Valley Crash
As the community mourns Saturday's loss of Nolan Evanicki of Poughkeepsie, the 18-year-old killed in a two-car crash near the Taconic State Parkway onramp in Pleasant Valley, friends have raised nearly $9,000 for funeral expenses. Hudson Valley Resident Celebrates 108th Birthday
When Eleanor La Motta was born, the Cubs World Series drought was only one year. There were only 47 states. William Howard Taft was president. La Motta, who lives in North Salem, celebrated her 108th birthday last month surrounded by family and friends. Ever resilient, LaMotta recently overcame a bout with pneumonia. "She's amazing," her daughter Fran Monti said. "She still has her facilities, she still votes. She watches TV and says her prayers." East Fishkill Police Take Part In 'No Shave November'
If you notice a few East Fishkill Police officers looking a little scruffy this month, don't worry, they aren't going rogue.The officers are taking part in the annual "No Shave November," a national movement aimed at bringing attention to men's health and to help raise funds for charities. When 13-year-old Kierstin North of Pleasant Valley first started losing hair from the top of her head last year, it was kind of strange. Fast-forward a year, and the once selfie-crazy identical twin is now completely bald and will probably never have her hair regrow due to alopecia, said her mother Tanya Schweizer. East Fishkill PD Sergeant Calls It A Career
After more than 12 years protecting the residents of East Fishkill, Sgt. Brian Tarpey of the East Fishkill Police Department is calling it a career. Tarpey officially retired on Friday, Oct. 6th, after an injury prevented him from returning to duty. He served the Town of East Fishkill since December of 2005, including a temporary assignment with the Dutchess County Drug Task Force. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014. A 21-year-old Hudson Valley native is behind the debut of a new film, available on Amazon Video. Matt Hagerty, a native of Rhinebeck in Dutchess County, wrote, directed and starred in "Anatomy of a Breakup."
