Hudson Valley Resident Celebrates 108th Birthday When Eleanor La Motta was born, the Cubs World Series drought was only one year. There were only 47 states. William Howard Taft was president.  La Motta, who lives in North Salem, celebrated her 108th birthday last month surrounded by family and friends. East Fishkill PD Sergeant Calls It A Career After more than 12 years protecting the residents of East Fishkill, Sgt. Brian Tarpey of the East Fishkill Police Department is calling it a career.  Tarpey officially retired on Friday, Oct. 6th, after an injury prevented him from returning to duty. He served the Town of East Fishkill since December of 2005, including a temporary assignment with the Dutchess County Drug Task Force. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014.  On their Facebook page, the department wished Tarpey: "A long, healthy and happy retirement. Matt Hagerty, a native of Rhinebeck in Dutchess County, wrote, directed and starred in "Anatomy of a Breakup." The 17-minute film, which the Cornell grad describes as both a short film and a TV pilot, takes the audience on a whirlwind journey through the mind of a heartbroken college student.
