Clinton Vineyards will release its 40th vintage of Seyval Blanc on Saturday, June 24 and to mark the occasion Vineyard Owner Phyllis Feder is inviting the public to attend a celebration complete with tastings, music, and a pop-up farmers market.

The event will include local vendors such as Crown Maple Syrup, Canoe Hill Café, Hoofprint Cheese, Beacon Bakery, and Rock Steady Farm.

At 81-years-young, Phyllis is, according to a spokesperson, the only woman of her age operating a winery and vineyard in the U.S.

It was her husband, Ben, who planted Seyval Grapes in 1974 and launched Clinton Vineyards as a farm winery in 1976. The vineyard's first release was in 1977 and his Seyval Blanc won numerous awards including a description as “Best wine in the Northeast.”

In the early 1980s, Ben learned the Méthode Champenoise technique at the renowned house of Bollinger in France and soon released the first “Champagne” made in the Hudson Valley.

When he died in 2009, Phyllis took over the full management of the vineyard.

The party begins at 1 p.m. when the tasting room opens; the full festivities fo from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be held at Clinton Vineyards, 450 Schultzville Rd.in Clinton Corners. The event is rain or shine. Call 845-266-5372 for additional details.
