The film chronicles the invisible wounds of war that many veterans come home with. Topfield Equestrian Center, of Cold Spring, is bringing the compelling new documentary to the Paramount.

The film uses moving, real-life stories of veterans to emphasize the urgent and growing need for effective mental health services, for both active and retired service members.

Tickets are $11 and online only: buy them here.

"We're pleased to host this event," said retired Army officer and Topfield President John MacEnroe.

Topfield Equestrian Center serves veterans in a six-county area. It offers a variety of military-focused programs using EAGALA Model psychotherapy.

"Nearly half of our clients are military personnel and veterans, so we know the need for these services is extremely urgent. Our goal is not only to create additional awareness through this screening, but to showcase one particularly powerful solution that is helping us meet the need locally."

In 2011, Topfield secured initial funding to work with VA and substance abuse programs in offering an EAGALA Model "warrior transition program" to the region for veterans in recovery. The program was so successful that additional programs were soon added.

"EAGALA Model equine-assisted psychotherapy has been tremendously effective for our military clients. Our new goal is to not only to increase the number of EAGALA Model programs available for veterans, but to develop programs for veteran families and spouses as well," said MacEnroe.

"We're also hoping to meet the growing demand by attracting additional funding sources and new volunteers."

Topfield will show a short video of the EAGALA Military Services Model after the film screening. A wine and cheese reception will follow, and audience members can speak with the Topfield organizers about the work they do.

The screening will begin at at 7:30 p.m. The theater is at 1008 Brown St., in Peekskill.

For directions and additional information, visit the theater's website or call MacEnroe at 914-474-5623.
