Russian Grand Ballet Performs 'Swan Lake' In Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Russian Grand Ballet will be delivering only one opportunity for Poughkeepsie residents to see the full-length classic production of the world's most famous ballet, Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," at Bardavon on Saturday, Sept. 24.

"Swan Lake" is coming to Poughkeepsie for a single performance.

"There's a good reason why 'Swan Lake' is so often called the 'ballet of all ballets,' the ballet company notes. "The combination of pure romanticism, the story about love and deception and Tchaikovsky's famous ballet music all continue to reach new generations of audiences."

Russian Grand Ballet was begun by graduates from the great Russian choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev -- and it's now an institution in its own right.

This full-length ballet has three acts and two intermissions. Tickets range from $41-80: buy them here. A fair number were still available Monday evening.

The performance will run from 7-9:30 p.m. The Bardavon 1869 Opera House is at 35 Market St., in Poughkeepsie.
