Poughkeepsie Bookstore Helps Kids Create Mother's Day Cards

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Children who visit the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District’s Bookstore from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 will be able to create a Mother’s Day card with the help of store volunteers.

All necessary craft materials will be provided at the store, and children will create cards under the supervision of Dutchess County artist Yvonne Laube and other Friends volunteers. There will be no charge for the activity.

Children will be able to take home their special card. Each child may also purchase any hardcover or paperback children’s book at half-price.

This event is part of a series for children and adults that will run throughout the year in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the all-volunteer organization’s support of the library district’s programs and services.

The bookstore is located at the Boardman Road Branch Library (entrance behind the library on the south side), 141 Boardman Rd., Poughkeepsie. It's open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
