Approximately 500 Buddhist teachers, monastics, practitioners, and guests from the USA, Canada, Europe, South America and Asia will attend the  2016 North American Kagyu Monlam.

The event will be under the guidance of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Buddhist meditation master and author of the New York Times bestseller, "The Joy of Living: Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness." The book, now available in more than 20 languages, led to the foundation of Tergar International, an organization that has established meditation and teaching centers across the globe.

The 2016 North American Kagyu Monlam will coincide with the inauguration of the newly completed Maitreya Center, a 35,000 square foot, two-story building with Tibetan-style Vajrayana and Chinese-style Mahayana shrine halls, as well as a lower-level gathering hall.

The Center, funded almost entirely through donations, overlooks the Hudson River.

Kagyu Thubten Chöling is located at 245 Sheafe Rd.
