POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie officials launched the city's inaugural First Friday Poughkeepsie on April 1 at the Bardavon 1896 Opera House, Time Warner Cable News reported.
The monthly initiative is to celebrate the city's arts, food and history, said Time Warner Cable News.
First Friday Poughkeepsie provides downtown office workers and city residents with opportunities to socialize together in downtown Poughkeepsie after work.
"After a hard week of wherever you are, it's nice to unwind a bit," said Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison, "especially in a city like this," Time Warner Cable News reported.
Future first Friday celebrations will take place at various locations in the city, said the report.
