The event is hosted by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce and its affiliate, the Women’s Leadership Alliance. The groups tout the event as "a wonderful opportunity for young women, families and students to learn about women's issues and for all of us to share in the solidarity of spirit with women around the world."

The event will include nonprofit vendors providing information on their services, entertainment and inspirational speeches from local leaders in the community, followed by a walk in solidarity across the Walkway.

Speakers will include Dutchess Community College President Dr. Pamela Edington; Krista Jones, founder of Sparrow's Nest, the WLA's 2015 Nonprofit of the Year; and Pari Forood, executive director at the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. Entertainment will be provided by the Poughkeepsie High School Choir, Kyleigh Rothmand, BeeBee the Clown and the Evergreen Chorus of the Sweet Adelines.

Attendees can also vote this year's WLA Nonprofit of the Year. The candidates are Astor Services for Children & Families, Children's Home of Poughkeepsie, Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center at Val-Kill, Girl Scouts – Heart of the Hudson, and Omega Women's Leadership Center. Jones will announce the winner during the event.

Refreshments will be provided by Sam’s Club and samples by Hudson Valley Skin Care and Harney & Sons Fine Teas.

The WLA is a network of professional women who help support the leadership and professional and economic growth of their peers throughout the Hudson Valley. It collaborates with women's organizations throughout the region, posting events and information of concern to women on its website.

The event will begin on the Poughkeepsie side of the bridge at 8:30 a.m. Parking on the Poughkeepsie side of the river is limited. There is no cost to attend, but preregistration is encouraged. Click here to preregister, or call Chelsea at 845-454-1700, ext. 1000.
