Do you think Golden Corral should re-open in the Town of Poughkeepsie?
- Yes
- No
Golden Corral is in talks to re-open its Town of Poughkeepsie location, which closed in March less than two months after opening and was beset by numerous problems.
A spokesman for Golden Corral told the Poughkeepsie Journal it was working with another franchisee on an arrangement to operate the restaurant, at 2345 South Street.
Golden Corral opened in January after numerous delays, only to close for the weekend in February in an attempt to "figure things out."
In late February, first responders were dispatched to a Poughkeepsie eatery Saturday after receiving a report of an apparent drug overdose.
Golden Corral called the closing of the restaurant "unprecedented" and said it was in violation of its franchise agreement. A Golden Corral had never closed so quickly after opening.
Following the closure, the Department of Labor announced it was investigating the restaurant after multiple employees complained that they were not getting paid and that, when they did receive checks, there was something wrong with them. The investigation is ongoing.
