Chipotle announced its Fishkill location will open on Friday, July 7 at 10:45 a.m at 18 Westage Drive. The location is the chain's first location in Dutchess County. A Five Guys Burgers and Fries will also be at the location.
The first 20 customers in line will receive a free Chipotle t-shirt, said Becky Mitchell, New England Marketing Strategist for Chipotle.
"It's really important that in the beginning, we connect with the community," Mitchell said.
Mitchell said Chipotle hopes to host fundraisers for not for profit organizations in Dutchess. She said the company is still looking to hire employees for the new location.
"We're really excited to be part of the community and we're looking to get to know everyone," Mitchell said. "We're excited to be here."
Mitchell said there was a demand for a Chipotle in Dutchess as customers were forced to drive to Middletown, Danbury or Kingston if they wanted their burrito bowls.
"People kept asking us when we were going to open here," Mitchell said.
The general manager of the Fishkill location will be Leo Cortazar. Cortazar will have another reason to celebrate on July 7 as he will also be celebrating a birthday.
