DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A regional advisory panel has chosen seven projects in Dutchess County as competitors in a statewide contest for aid, according to a report in the Poughkeepsie Journal.
According to the Journal, the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council has sent its choices for “priority projects” to the state’s Empire State Development Corp. for review.
The competition aims at creating jobs and attracting investment, the Journal reported.
Of the 24 that were named, seven were in Dutchess, the story said.
According to the Journal, the seven are: the Walkway Over the Hudson , to improve visitor facilities and access; EFCO Products , for equipment for its Poughkeepsie factory; Bellefield at Hyde Park , a mixed-use project, for a hotel; Marist College , for a center for data center and business incubator in Poughkeepsie; Queen City Lofts , for mixed rental housing, including artist spaces; Vassar Brothers Medical Center , for an expansion it already plans; and SUNY Alliance for Research and Technology Transfer , for SMARTT labs, research and training centers.
